30X24'' LANDSCAPE PAINTING. This painting is from a month long residency in San Francisco. This was based on a photo I took at immigrant point overlook, a vista point that connects to presidio hiking trails and beaches. The title is to remind it's viewer to continue to care for our immigrants and those seeking to join in the beauty of life in a new place. In a lot of my paintings, i'm very entertained by making color harmonies that give the feeling of light coming from within the painting. Painted on a bright sunny day, it was so bright while I was working on it, I had to cover the canvas with paper towels to avoid getting headaches! I "finished" the painting but couldn't quite call it complete; the typical artists woe. Days later, a artistic creative urge drove me to add the sunglasses as an infusion of my reality while making this painting. This painting was born out of a harmony between the always inspiring landscape of a beautiful bay, combined with the very real addition of my 4 year old pair of sunglasses, a physical item as married to the moment as me and my paintbrush themselves.
